The essay wasn’t valued by most colleges and universities, and I expect the ACT will soon follow suit. I wonder what will happen to replace subject tests: will APs widen to include a bigger audience or will something else crop up?

The ACT and SAT are cumulative assessments of knowledge, and GPA+APs are the subject specific assessments. There is no need for redundant admission values like a Subject Test. Let’s hope the ACT makes a similar move by eliminating the optional essay.
